Summary in plain English
Use the site honestly, don't try to break it, and don't pretend our designs are yours. If you buy a kit and it arrives broken, we'll replace it. If our drops sell out before you check out, that's on us — we'll do our best. Below is the long version.
1. Who these terms cover
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of fledge-labs.com and any product we sell ("Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. We may update them; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
2. Using the website
- You agree not to attempt to break, scrape excessively, reverse-engineer security, or use the site to spam other users.
- You agree the search and Kit Finder tools rely on third-party data (eBird, OpenStreetMap) and may occasionally be inaccurate or unavailable.
- You may use the publicly accessible STL files in our GitHub repo to print houses for personal, non-commercial backyard use. Reselling our designs (printed or digital) without written permission is not permitted.
3. Buying kits (when commerce launches)
Pricing & availability
Drops are sold in limited quantities. When a drop sells out, it's gone — we don't restock prior drops. Prices are listed in USD and include any applicable sales tax for your jurisdiction at checkout.
Shipping
Domestic US shipping is via USPS or UPS Ground in recycled-paper packaging. Estimated delivery is 5–10 business days from the drop's shipping date (which is announced on each drop's page). We don't currently ship internationally; we'll update this when we do.
Returns & defects
- Damaged or defective on arrival: we replace it free, no questions, within 60 days. Email hello@fledge-labs.com with a photo.
- Changed your mind: within 30 days, ship the kit back and we'll refund or exchange. Return shipping is on us.
- After 30 days, used outdoors: we don't accept those returns, but reach out — we want to know if something's not working so we can improve the design.
4. Intellectual property
The Fledge Labs name, logo, brand assets, and product designs are owned by Fledge Labs. Our parametric STL generator and species data are publicly readable on GitHub for transparency, but the underlying designs and brand are not licensed for resale. If you want to manufacture or resell Fledge designs, contact us — we're open to partnership conversations, just not to copies.
eBird data is the intellectual property of Cornell Lab of Ornithology and used here under their public API terms. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License.
5. Drops & conservation contributions
We commit to donating the percentage of revenue stated on each drop's product page (typically 5–15%) to the named conservation partner. We publish an annual summary of donations made.
We reserve the right to substitute the recipient organization in the rare case that the named partner can no longer accept donations — we'll choose another partner serving the same species or cause and update the public ledger.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
We design our kits to be safe for birds and durable outdoors, and we engineer based on guidance from NestWatch, the North American Bluebird Society, and similar bodies. But we don't warranty specific outcomes — whether birds will use your house, what species will nest, or that nesting will succeed depends on your local environment, placement, and luck. The Services are provided "as is."
7. Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, United States. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts of New Hampshire.
